“Princess Esmeralda” is a magical story of a young girl, with the help of an enchanted seahorse, who finds out who she truly is and discovers her world is full of colour and love. It is a story for adults and parents to share with their children in a space of love and caring, so they may feel Esmeralda’s story as their own. It is to let all children know how important it is to believe in who they are, to accept themselves and others, and also to understand that if they take care of their world, then they in turn will have everything they need to nourish and care for them. It is a reminder for all of us to see the world again in awe, through a child’s eyes, to see the colour, the magic and the joy.

As guardians of this planet we are here to nurture all things with love, especially our children, to ensure our thoughts and actions cannot harm another living thing. Stories through all time have held an energy in the words that are passed down through generations. I want my stories to help both adults and children feel good about who they are and form loving caring beliefs about themselves and one another.

Princess Esmeralda of the land of Ur now knew who she was, with one wish she had opened up a world of colour laughter and love to herself. Excited, she stepped outside; she wanted to see what it was like to be somewhere that was filled with so many colours. A slight breeze lifted her curls “I let you feel my gentle touch to remind you to breathe me in and feel alive.” whispered the breeze that was like a breath on her skin.

She couldn’t help but be enchanted by all she was seeing. Flowers smiled at her as she passed by and Esmeralda stopped to smell each one, gently touching their petals she asked “Why are you in my garden pretty ones?” “For you to smell our sweet scent, we each take a colour from the rainbow, our beauty is here to inspire you and as you smile, our joy will be within you” they replied.

The author grew up in New Zealand, Aotearoa the Land of the Long White Cloud, a special, magical land with many myths and legends and fairies in gardens. She has three grown daughters, her Princesses and four grandchildren, her Angels, who all inspire her, as they are Planet Earth’s future Guardians.
"Thank you so much for the beautiful books you dropped off yesterday. I took them home last night to read myself and I’ll make sure they now get to the Prep/1 area of the school. They’re gorgeous - the children will love them. I love the gentle, calm tone of the stories and the meaningful, lovely themes. The books contain such nice insights that we could talk to the kids about while we read them.

Thanks again. I really appreciate the gesture. They’re beautiful."
