In this story, Sassy is having trouble going to sleep. Her brother, Slither, can sleep; her best friend, Freshie, loves to rest; and her friends, Torch and Turbo, never seem to be grouchy or tired. Sassy asks for their ideas and makes herself a list that will become her new bedtime habit. She learns to enjoy going to bed and how to relax and fall asleep.
“Oh . . . I do lots of stuff! Sometimes, I go to the bathroom, 2 or 3 times. I usually brush my teeth . . . but sometimes not. I say goodnight . . . over and over. Sometimes, I have a snack. Once in a while I read a story and I try to remember to say my prayers. I think I do lots of stuff just to keep from going to bed because I don’t think I will fall asleep. Sometimes I ask to watch a movie even though I know it’s too late. I even try crying once in awhile. I get told “to to sleep” but I don’t really know how to do that.”
