Glow is a passionate collection of mystical poems inspired by transformative events that signaled rebirth and self inquiry. It is divided into three themes: Heart, Insights/Realizations and Universal. This work is a journey through one woman’s evolution from innocence to “conscious living”. Her goal is to help the reader realize that, blessings can be salvaged from the deepest emotional pain. Through her poems, the author exposes how the storms of human relationships are necessary for self actualization. These learned truths have powerful cascading effects, which filter down and alter the meaning of all that we experience. Experiences that, when shared with others, can bring us all to a higher level of awareness.
Creation
Life, once dissected is marvellous
Each creation -a creator
Each present- an improvement
An expanding cycle of rebirth
With each new day
An inspiration
A different equation
Infinite applications
With each inspiring moment
A new desire is born
A different seed is sown
An alternate future created
With each new thought
A symphony is composed
"ALL THAT IS"...re-arranges
A reality emerges
So simple the truth yet complex
For so many brushes are stroking
An ever changing masterpiece
So beautiful & constantly evolving
Each brush -a creator
Expanding its creation
Gods in motion
Oblivious to their own power
Unconscious but all the same
Unfolding just like a flower
Short a life yet striking & delicate
A vanishing wonder reincarnating forever
Extensions of the unseen
Experiencing the physical plain
Not separated nor detached
Loved & adored we remain.
Rehab Rivers is of Somali roots and was born in Aden, Yemen. Her friends know her as “Kiki”. She was born into the revered Shariff family, and enjoyed the changes of her nomadic life; a lifestyle common in her region. Having resided in Yemen, UAE, India, and the United States, her family finally decided to immigrate to Toronto, Canada, in 1989. Always a seeker of knowledge and truth, she went on a profound spiritual journey, exploring many religions as a teenager. Her aspirations of pursuing medicine were put aside to join the workforce, and later raise a family. The lessons she learned as a child about welcoming change were put to the test when her sixteen-year marriage ended with a tragic separation. The entry of a certain healer into Rehab’s life triggered her creativity. Rehab has spent the past fourteen years enjoying a career as a flight attendant. She currently lives in Toronto with her two angels, Ethan and Hana.
