By Margie Kugler

In 2001, I was confronted with the most frightening challenge of my life, the diagnosis of a disease called scleroderma. I gradually learnt that this was no ordinary condition, as both my immune and vascular systems are compromised. The body is overproducing collagen throughout the body’s cells, tissues, organs, and systems, causing scarring or fibrosis. I felt strongly compelled to stay positive and explored many areas of help by seeking medical, holistic, and spiritual ways of healing.

My book reveals the challenging and yet empowering journey I am living. Through a natural desire to express myself, I began writing my thoughts down daily and led to much insight and inspiration. My journal of poems, affirmations, and dedications brings to light a culmination of years of fear, bravery, pain, faith, desperation, and enlightenment.

I sincerely hope this reaches the many thousands of people who are struggling just like me, dealing with their day-to-day tribulations of managing an autoimmune disease. I endeavour to deliver comfort and recognition by openly sharing my story and I wish with all my heart and soul that it helps people in some reassuring way or hopefully in a most miraculous way. This is my dream.

By Bahiyeh Afnan Shahid

The Iranian poet and painter Sohrab Sepehri (1928–1980) is revered today for many of the things he was criticized for during his lifetime. Born and raised in the ancient city of Kashan, he was educated in Tehran and travelled widely. A gentle introvert by nature, he was accused of escapism when his reaction to the world around him was to go back to nature, mysticism and mythology, poetry and painting. This mystic of the twentieth century seeks a light that radiates from the individual soul and ultimately affects its relationship with others and the world around it. While Rumi, the mystic of the thirteenth century, dances, sings, and chants out loud that he comes from the world of spirit and is a stranger in the world of matter, Sepehri, quietly aware of humanity in a milieu alien to its physical, psychological, and spiritual needs, in poetry and painting, appeared to stroke human consciousness into a tranquility, almost a state of beatitude, which nevertheless is never quite free of the ongoing struggle for “awareness, understanding and illumination.”

Sepehri had a free and sometimes convoluted approach to the verities of life, insisting that the book of everyday “illusions” must be closed and …

… one must rise

And walk along the stretch of time,

Look at the flowers, hear the enigma.

One must run until the end of being …

One must sit close to the unfolding,

Some place between rapture and illumination.

(Both Line and Space. Bk.8)

In this fresh translation, Bahiyeh Afnan Shahid successfully conveys the meaning, feelings, and sensitivity of the Persian original allowing the reader to appreciate the pertinence of Sepehri to the twenty-first century.

By Yosipa

For the poet Yosipa, her spiritual journey has been like that of a child jumping up and trying to touch that overhanging branch on a tree, to swipe the tips of its leaves. He or she doesn’t give up, but continues to try, knowing that one day it will be possible. And then suddenly, the child is grown; he or she no longer needs to jump to reach the tree and instead can just be one with the tree and everything else—effortlessly.

Yosipa’s journey began twenty years ago in Sydney, Australia. Riding the bus home as a young woman, she saw a crystal shop and felt compelled to leave the bus and go inside. She did so, and found a world of discovery through self-help books.

At the age of twenty-three, Yosipa moved to Byron Bay, where the inspiration and wisdom came from to write Share My Soul and to share it with the world. She presents this collection of spiritual, emotionally evocative poetry that draws you into the inner world of life, love, and discovery based upon Yosipa’s life experiences.

An Artist’s Story

Self-Love and Loving your inner child

Through the use of colour and poetry, An Artist’s Story conveys a journey in re-discovering the beauty, light, joy and innocence of one’s inner child embedded deep inside every adult’s soul. In today’s society, many are experiencing the life of an android, with depression and mental disease on the increase, as we are exposed to longer hours of work and an increase in the use of electromagnetic tools. To live life from the heart, where inspiration, courage, and faith become one’s drive, is a challenge for most.

This book is written for readers who wish to reconnect to their inner child, to heal and rediscover self-love, to feel inspired about their life once more and find their path and place on top of their own world, deep inside the pits of their soul; a place only you can control, nurture, and manifest to your heart’s desire!

“Enlightening reading from an independent writer that doesn’t follow anyone’s style.”

—David Gibson, businessman, VIC, Australia

“The use of words by the interaction between the prose and poetry is wonderful, as is the artwork inviting

and thought provoking; it keeps the reader’s interest throughout the book.”

—Phillip Sutton, lawyer, VIC, Australia.

“Hungry” is a photographic essay highlighting the power of simplicity, awareness, and love. It was inspired by a series of photographs taken over a period of awakening and growth for the author. The majority of this book was “channeled” while walking through the pristine nature of New Zealand, tapped out on an iPhone to inspire, and to be inspired.

The Dreams of Our Dreaming

In the Dreams of our Dreaming,
The blueprint was set,
Of all that we could be,
Though we aren’t there yet …

Inspired by a lifetime of dreams, this book is a compilation of inspirational and personal poetry and essays, written over many years, the stories lovingly arranged to take you through many of the common experiences of life.

Allan says: "I prepared this book simply because the stories are so beautiful and meaningful, that they need to be shared with others. I want the world to know that there is an alternative way of thinking and acting. The messages are relevant to all people, and speak directly to people of all cultures. In many cases they have been rearranged slightly from the original text, so that when you read them, you feel as if you are sitting back, speaking with an old friend you can trust."

This collection of prose, poetry and short stories has been thoroughly enjoyed by people of all ages, from four to one hundred and four. Even people who normally never read poetry have felt moved to read this book.

Feedback received from many readers highlights the effectiveness of the messages contained, as many people have commented that the text seems to speak to them directly, delivering to them a personal message that brings inspiration and courage in times of need.

Join Allan for “a special journey through life and dreams with a natural flow that feels guided by spirit.”

“This work of poetry new age/self help is an amazing and inspiring read from start to finish. The work takes the reader on a special journey through life and dreams with a natural flow that feels guided by spirit. The poems cover a wide range of issues from relationships, soul mates, and nature to the power of choice, time and lessons to name just a few. The poems are deep and meaningful and would appeal to all ages and cultures; which is unique in this genre.

“The Dreams of Our Dreaming is a highly accomplished work.”
— Zeus Publications, 2010.
“The blurb promised me a ‘special journey through life and dreams with a natural flow that feels guided by spirit’. The book delivered on the promise with beautiful poems and a feeling of serenity throughout my reading. The focus is on the concept that we are all one and the same with many writings (poems and essays) weaving together subjects such as relationships, soul mates, nature, the power of choice, time and soul lessons. This book will appeal to those of any culture and age, particularly those contemplating new age concepts and opening to a spiritual awareness.”
— Anne Aleckson for Insight magazine, September 2010

My Spirit Is Like the Eagle begins with a poem sharing its title with the book. The central image of the poet as an eagle provides a unique introduction to the variety of themes in this poetry collection. Some verses soar high above the landscape, while others swoop down from the heights to grasp the small gestures that make up daily life.

Poet Roy Forrester has Parkinson’s disease, and it has changed his world dramatically. What began as a poem to his wife expressing his love for her has turned into a dynamic collection of poetry on many different topics, from love and passion to humour. He also writes of the frustrations he encounters with his disease. This debut poetry collection represents the end of a long journey for Forrester, and he invites you to join him in considering that journey.

My spirit is like the eagle.

It is an illusion that I am bound to this earth by an aging body.

It is an illusion, as is life itself.

It is an illusion that this existence is finite.

My spirit is like the eagle.

I, too, scan the earth below,

and though I search for sustenance,

sustenance for my soul,

it is the beauty of the journey which fulfils me.
